Air conditioner filter for Hijet Van/Atrai Wagon

This is how to replace the air conditioner filter of Daihatsu’s Hijet Van and Atrai Wagon, which are vehicles with a long history.
After a minor change around November 2017, the cabin air filter became standard equipment.
Toyota Pixis Van
Subaru Sambar Van/Dias Wagon
are also equipped with cabin air filters in models that have undergone minor changes since November 2017.
The exchange method is also the same.

The front seems to be uglier than before the minor change, but once you get used to it, it starts to look better.
It feels like the spindle grille that started with Lexus and has spread to Toyota has also influenced Daihatsu cars.
Since it was a minor change, the interior wasn’t much different than before, but this type of car is tall, so it feels spacious for a light car.

Among the same types from other manufacturers, Suzuki’s Every is more popular.
I feel like Every’s vans are more popular, but Daihatsu also seems to be promoting Hijet models.
I’ve seen the Hijet commercial before, but I’ve never seen the Atrai commercial.
I feel like Koji Matoba appeared on the show a long time ago…but I think that was a long time ago.

For some reason, the cabin air filter has been installed since this minor change.
I’m not sure if it’s a request from previous owners or a strong push from the air conditioner unit manufacturer, but I think it’s a good thing that things that weren’t included before can now be attached.

However, since the van has a lot of mileage, I think it will have to be replaced frequently.
Hijet cars were equipped with air conditioner filters before trucks, so it may have been strange for trucks to have air filters but vans not.

The introduction is quite long, but I would like to get to the main topic.
The replacement method is as follows.

Remove glove box

atrai glove box
Open the glove box and push both sides of the glove box inward to release the stuck part of the glove box.
Usually, if you remove one side, the fitting part under the glove box will come off, so if you remove one side, it may just pop off.

Remove the black filter cover

atrai filter cover
As many of you may know about Daihatsu, almost all of its vehicles are equipped with the same engine, and most of the air conditioner units are also equipped with the same unit.
I think this is because it is much more efficient for manufacturers.
That’s why you can see similar units in other car models, and this car model is no exception.
When you remove the glove box, you will see the black filter cover, so you can easily remove the cover by holding the locked part on the left side like a clip and pulling it towards you.

The filter replacement

There is a filter behind the cover, so replace it.
Since the engine and unit are the same, the filter is also the same as other models.
As I mentioned earlier, in terms of efficiency, it is better to supply as many of the same thing as possible, but if too many of the same thing is distributed, if something goes wrong, all of them will be affected. As a result, it becomes impossible to send a stable supply.

As a manufacturer, we are pursuing the ideal of efficient production while providing a stable supply, but maintaining that balance seems to be an eternal theme.
