Mazda Atenza(GJ) Cabin Air Filter Replacement

atenza(gj) MAZDA(マツダ)

It Feels Like It’s Really Come Into Its Own

Hello everyone.

Today, I’d like to show you how to replace the cabin air filter on the Mazda Atenza.

This guide is for the current GJ series model.

The Atenza has definitely developed a more premium feel over the years.
Compared to the earliest model, I think its position in the lineup has moved considerably upmarket.

You could even say this is a tradition shared by many long-running models.

When people think of Mazda these days, the image that comes to mind is probably “red” and “clean diesel.”
I think it’s nice how Mazda has unified the design image across several models.

Though one downside is that it can sometimes make the cars harder to tell apart…

Anyway, let’s get to the main topic.

Remove the Damper

First, push the damper located on the left side of the glove box inward to detach it.
It’s surprisingly delicate, so be careful not to force it too hard, as it may break.

Remove the Glove Box

While pushing both sides of the glove box inward, pull it toward you.
This will allow the stoppers on both sides of the glove box to clear the front side.
Once that’s done, the glove box can be removed.

Remove the Old Filter

Once the glove box is removed, you’ll see a white filter.
Lift the lower handle upward and then pull the filter toward you to remove it.

Replace the filter with a new one.
Since the amount of work involved is fairly minimal, it’s an easy job to do yourself.
That’s exactly what makes cabin air filters so convenient.
