Toyota Prius / Prius PHV(30 series) Cabin Air Filter Replacement

Prius PHV(30 series) TOYOTA(トヨタ)
The Pioneer of Hybrids Here we go! Today, I’ll show you how to replace the cabin air filter on a Toyota Prius PHV (Plug-in Hybrid). The steps are exactly the same for the standard Prius (ZVW30). There’s something about the “PHV” badge that just looks cool, isn’t it? It’s like the ultimate eco-friendly car with amazing fuel efficiency. For short trips, you can even get by on electric power alone. One thing to keep in mind—this car runs so quietly that pedestrians might not notice you approaching. Please drive extra carefully, especially when seniors are nearby, as they might not hear you coming. Actually, this is a good tip for all electric and hybrid vehicle drivers! Now, let’s get into the main topic.

Remove the Damper

First, open the glove box. Pull the damper stay to the left to disconnect it from the glove box. Sometimes it can be a bit stubborn, so be careful not to pull too hard and break it.

Remove the Glove Box

Prius (30 series) Glove Box Push both sides of the glove box inward to release the stoppers located at the back. If it’s difficult to do both at once, try releasing one side at a time. Once the stoppers are clear, pull the glove box toward you to remove it completely.

Remove the Filter Cover

Prius (30 series) Filter Cover Press the tab on the left side of the filter cover inward to release it. The right side is hooked in, so it’s best to pull the cover toward the left to slide it out. This should be much easier than removing the damper!

Replace the Filter

As mentioned, the procedure is identical for the standard Prius (ZVW30). Since they look almost the same, I thought this was the perfect chance to introduce them together! The Prius has truly become a household name as the definitive hybrid car. When it first launched, it felt like such a futuristic concept, but now the name “Prius” and “Hybrid” are perfectly linked in everyone’s mind. I guess it’s a sign of how much the times have changed!
